Starvation Heights Honored by Washington State Librarian
It doesn’t happen every day. In fact, I can’t think of the last time a true crime book was honored by a state reading program. Recently, the Washington State Librarian and Washington Secretary of State did just that when they selected Gregg’s book about murderous Dr. Linda Burfield Hazzard to its Washington Reads literary program. Starvation Heights was chosen because it contributes to the cuture of the state.
Who says the TC genre doesn’t have any redeeming social value?
This is the third time this year one Gregg Olsen book has been tapped by official reading programs. The Deep Dark was selected by Boise State Univiersity for its first year reading program (following last year’s Pulitizer Prize winning author Tracy Kidder’s Mountains Beyond Mountains.) The Deep Dark was also selected by the Idaho Everybody Reads program and will be the focus of several events throughout the state in the fall.
Get some culture. Check out Gregg’s Starvation Heights web site.
PS: A book that’s getting great buzz and covers similar territory is Charlatan: America’s Most Dangerous Huckster, the Man Who Pursued Him, and the Age of Flimflam by Pope Brock.

Congrats! (Again

Nice to see you shirking the mantle of humbleness for a change in order to let your fans know what’s good in Olsen-Land!
