Did Lori Drew author the blog, Megan Had it Coming?

lori_drew my space.jpgLori Drew might be fat, ugly and stupid. But was she stupid enough to author the nasty “Megan Had it Coming” blog that defends her postion and further trashes the memory of Megan Meier, the young girl who killed herself over Drew’s cruel MySpace hoax?

Investigators now want to know.

From the wire:

The sheriff and the prosecutor have confirmed they’re now looking into a blog site which recounts in great detail the entire Megan Meier saga. St. Charles County prosecutor, Jack Banas, is calling on the department’s “cyber” crimes investigators to find out who’s behind the site; the very title of which may offend you:  “Megan Had It Coming”. The title is followed by the statement, “I’m Lori Drew.”

Megan’s mother, Tina, is among many who welcome the investigation into the “Megan Had It Coming” blog.

“That would be great,” said Tina Meier. “I think hopefully it would make a stand … we can post that we are anybody in this world.  We can say we are anybody. We can act as anybody, and it’s ok.  It’s just absolutely ok.  You can absolutely ruin somebody’s lives.”

Drew’s family says that Lori Drew isn’t involved.

Like we’re going to believe them. Right?

Here’s a snip from the blog:

Now I had nothing but sympathy for Megan’s condition. But my sympathy has limits. When you come after my daughter and try to hurt her like that, my patience wears out. This troubled child was no longer able to poison my baby in person, so she decided to reach out on the Internet to do it instead. Like any parent, when you see the ill-behaved child next door causing trouble for your family, you want to wring the neck of the parents who let it happen. But, as Megan’s parents made it clear earlier, they were not about to come down on their precious Megan. I had no recourse with them. And, forbidding the children from seeing each other was not effective because Megan could simply harass my daughter online.

So what did she do to retaliate? She invented a MySpace persona, a handsome young man named Josh Evans. All of this, of course, was to protect her own daughter while keeping tabs on Megan.

That’s when I decided I would have to teach Megan a lesson and give her a taste of her own medicine.

I decided that I would shut down the Josh account, and not be nice about it. Megan’s feelings be damned, and to hell with her consequence! I was going to protect my daughter no matter what. So I sent the break up e-mail to Megan saying that Josh didn’t want to be friends because Megan was very cruel to her friends. Naturally, Megan freaked, and I tried to keep the messages short and sweet. As a last resort bargaining chip, I figured that if she really loved Josh then maybe he could pressure her into stopping her lies. But it didn’t work, and the situation devolved lightning fast.
Megan was screaming at Josh for answers on who he had been talking to: she wanted to know who ratted her out so she could take out revenge on them, too. I shared Megan’s messages with everyone involved and encouraged everyone to stand up against her and not take her crap anymore.

After Megan killed herself, Lori Drew said she told everyone involved in her MySpace conspiracy to shut up.

I was distraught over the event, so I instructed the key people involved to stay quiet to protect themselves against any counter-bullying, and I deleted the Josh profile. I kept the truth from the Meier family because there was simply no reason to come forward. Their little girl died the next day at the hospital. Their lives were destroyed. What good would it do to inform them that their daughter’s MySpace boyfriend was a fake? They wouldn’t believe that their daughter was a MySpace bully and a real life manipulator when she was alive, so why add to their grief now? I stayed quiet. I went to the funeral to pay my respects to this troubled child who took herself to a tragic end. We mourned the loss of a girl who once was a good friend. We all tried to get on with our lives.

Seriously, it is doubtful that Lori Drew could be so stupid as to write this stuff. But then, she was stupid (or cruel) enough to destroy a little girl for sport. So who knows?

Bring on the investigation. Let’s see where this one lands.

  2. Melissa Says:

AMEN – I seriously want to know who started tha blog.

  3. Einstein's Mom Says:

I am very skeptical that Lori Drew wrote that blog for the primary reason that it would be so freaking stupid of her to do so. Could she really be that utterly stupid?!

I would not be surprised if someone very close to her wrote it, though. Or maybe Drew wrote it and someone else changed it a bit and blogged it so that it could not be traced back to Drew. One way or the other, the details and feelings emoted from it feel very real and personal to me which, in turn, causes me confusion. Lol

On our local St. Louis news tonight, there was a story about how people were calling the local businesses who advertised through Lori Drew’s now shuttered advertising business. People were threatening to boycott these businesses as long as they advertised through Drew. One of the business owners of a coffee shop was annoyed about it. In his opinion, the complainers were utilizing the very same tactics Drew, herself, used when trying to turn everyone against Megan.

  4. Melissa Says:

Read the first blog EM – when she is claiming to be a teen, she said she knows how to cover her tracks. Yeah, like you can do that lol

  5. Melissa Says:

Also, EM, to the local business owner, thats exactly the point.

  6. Einstein's Mom Says:

I’m not so sure that the way to protest a bully is to go around bullying others.

  7. Jeanne From NC Says:

exactly EM! If there was a problem, do like we used to do, go to the pricipal of the school. Get the two girls and their parents in a room to talk everything out. This passive aggressive action and bullying back trying to stop bullying is rediculous!

That blog is pretty convincing reading the posted responses etc. she might NOW have done enough to get caught under that law by posting the entire thing etc.

  8. Melissa Says:

They arent, they are boycotting her. Letting her know she isnt wanted. More power to them.

  9. Sophie Says:

I wonder if LD honestly believed that with all the kids involved in the hoax no one would ever tell? And that once everyone found out people would still like her and want her around their children?

  10. Rae Says:

I don’t know if the blog is authentic or not-but, if it is, just the title is a good indication of how incredibly stupid Drew is.

‘Her’ explanations are sickening. Perhaps they make sense in the depths of her own mind, but they don’t to me.

I was thinking, as a parent, it wouldn’t even occur to me to cyber bully a child just to get revenge for my own kid. And I am a really protective parent-if an adult were to hurt my kids, I’d rip their head off. But, one of the primary responsibilities of being a parent, to me, is to guide the kids so they can learn to work things out in a reasonable way. That’s what we do-that’s why we are the adults.

    Unfathomable.

  11. Compassrose Says:

The world is just insane that adults can be not only be stupid but this cruel — and I am talking about the original blog. If this woman was ignorant enough to post this second, defiant, blog placing blame at the feet of a child, I hope they bust her.

  12. A. Says:

When I read the blog snips here, it’s very convincing that it’s written by her. She sounds like she’s found a way to justify herself (in her mind), and that she thinks she’ll rally up some support.

Jeanne-the going to the principle thing only works (if it works at all) is for bullying on school grounds, at school activities, etc.

I’ve seen some truly nutty parents, who seem to thrive by mixing it up with their teens and friends, so none of this is a stretch for me to believe.
But it’s so pathetic. When all of L.Drew’s supporters wake up and realize how pathetic she is, maybe then she’ll be in a position to face the reality of what she’s done, and how terrible it is.

  13. judy-st louis Says:

What is peculiar about the “I’m Lori Drew” is these arguments go on and on all coming from Anon.
The grammar is all perfect and it just does not feel real. But if it is not her, it has got to be someone very close to the situation to know as much detail. Also, please note: That blog was rolled out at exactly the time of the press conference where Banas was announcing that he couldn’t come up with charges (After only interviewing Lori Drew and no one else!)

It was said a few weeks ago that the Megan Had it Coming blogspot was coming from Sarah Drew. Again, that had so many details, that it would be seem to be coming from the inner circle.

  14. annarocket Says:

    Judy,
What do you think? Over at our camp,we are speculating it is the daughter.

  15. A. Says:

I’m not Judy, but the writing doesn’t seem like that of a 13 year old girl to me…

  16. Michelle Gray Says:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megan_Meier

  17. Fiz Says:

It is not a 13 year old writing, they all use text-ese these days. I think Lori Drew might be that stupid. It’s all very self-righteous in tone, too.

  18. Compassrose Says:

Reading the Wikipedia article is discouraging. If Lori Drew was concerned about whatever gossip or snippy comments Megan was making against her daughter, I wonder how she would have felt if an adult had set up her daughter the way she did Meagan. And feeling terrible seems to be an understatement.

Truthfully, I think an “adult”/parent that would partake in a scheme such as this could write the above defensive, justifying commentary. Let’s face it, too many adults are suffering from seriously arrested emotional development. They will argue over every and any offense they think their child might/has suffered.. Why are so many adults this self centered and refuse to take responsibility for their actions or those of their children? How do kids learn to be adults when the adults in their lives act like whiny, argumentative five year olds?

  19. Rae Says:

It doesn’t read like a 13 year old wrote it. Just in the snippets above, you’ve got “bargaining” and “devolved” (think she meant evolved) and “recourse” – 13 year olds don’t use words like that.

I think CompassRose is right on, although I don’t know why some adults act that way. They get the idea that their kids are perfect, and entitled to be treated like gold at all times – but they don’t put the brakes on bad behavior. In Lori Drew’s case, obviously, because she never learned to curb her own behavior.

I can appreciate the frustration that must come when your child is being bullied, cyber or otherwise, but LD didn’t seem to want to realize that Megan was a kid, too. She speaks about the girl as if she was a manipulative adult-and she went forward in her scheme with that mindset. She still has it, if she actually wrote that blog.

Said it before: LD is getting the big ol’ karmic ass chewing she deserves.

  20. judy-st louis Says:

    Just a reminder:

The Megan Hit it Coming Blog, at one time was said that Lori’s daughter Sarah, had done that. If it wasn’t Sarah, then it would have to be someone very close to the situation to know so many details.

The “I’m Lori Drew” Blog, reads, again, as if someone who would only know certain details wrote it. But what I thought was more peculiar, were the comments that rolled in: “anonymous”, “anon”,
and all of those, hundreds of entries, all had the same grammar and punctuation and were all time stamped the same time. “Lori” responds for a while, then drops out of the conversation.

Keep in mind, this is a blogspot. I am told that is run by google, so the IP tracers are not able to trace it. http://www.meganhaditcoming.blogspot.com
It takes forever to read through all of the comments. If it is not Lori Drew, then who is it?

  21. Frankly Scarlett Says:

All of this reminds me of that Mom who’s cheerleading daughter were feuding with her friend who was doing better on the cheerleading squad… the mother went to extreme lengths to make sure her daughter came out on top… now I can’t recall, did one of those girls die???

And what about these nim-rod parents who beat up and even kill other parents at their child’s sporting events? Screaming and yelling at each other like a bunch of banchees, oh yeah, that’s really teaching our kids sportsmanship.

Teenagers will ALWAYS be arguing over one thing or another, it’s a part of growing up. They don’t need their parents getting into the mix, especially if their parent is a dim-wit.

My parents NEVER acted in this manner and taught me as a parent that kids need to work out their own problems. Now if someone is coming after your kid with a gun or something, that’s another story.

But getting into the bickering and teenage problems of your children is just wrong.

This woman is a physcopath. And if it is her claiming that “she had it coming”…. they ought to hang her. She’s an ADULT (supposedly), never know it through her actions.

I hope they find out FOR SURE who is behind this blog. Sad, just plain sad and senseless.

  22. BeWhoYaWannaBe Says:

I am in the midst of reading “Megan had it coming”. Is this for real??!!
I am absolutely dumb-founded that this woman continues to showcase her own stupidity, immaturity, and callousness by attempting to ‘explain’ herself. And even responding to the blog. Where/when does she stop the madness?

Give it up an turn yourself in for aggravated assault of some kind!

  23. Liz Says:

Hi, FranklyScarlett. You are thinking of the Wanda Holloway case, which happened in Channelview, Texas in 1991. Wanda tried to hire her brother-in-law to kill Verna Heath, the mom of her daughter’s cheerleading rival. She hoped that the girl would be so distraught over the death of her mother that she’d drop out of the cheerleading tryouts.

The brother-in-law turned state’s witness and Wanda was arrested before anyone died. Wanda was sentenced to 10 years, but served, I believe, less than a year of her sentence. She was on probation until fairly recently.

I grew up right near that town, at that time, and there were plenty of Texas mamas who would have maybe not gone that far, but would have gone pretty far to ensure their daughters’ cheerleading success. Wanda did get SO much media attention, but certainly nowhere near as much attention as Lori Drew — there weren’t blogs and such as there are now.

I believe, however, that Lori Drew is even more reviled than Wanda — maybe for the simple fact that she has not apologized (Wanda apologized all over the place when she was caught), and has even gone so far as to tell the Meier family to “get over it” (this from a women who filed a criminal report about a foosball table against a family whose daughter she’d baited and taunted systematically for nearly two months!).

  24. Mary Says:

I have just this to say.

From the mouth of MARILYN MANSON:

“The internet is the trailer park of the soul.”

  25. annarocket Says:

If it wasn’t Lori, who would have all that anger, that defensive emotion?

**I didn’t do it!!** **Leave my Mom alone!!**

I don’t think it’s as far fetched as you guys think.Any 13 year old kid with an 18 year old friend [maybe one that worked for her Mom?] can rant in a stream of conciousness way with .50 words.

  26. Capri Says:

I’d like to link to this article, but can’t due to a discriminatory comment at the beginning of your article “Lori Drew might be fat, ugly and stupid” If you’d left out the “fat, ugly” and left in “stupid” and added “for helping to carry out a sick hoax” that would be much better.

This is the first time I’ve read about someone named “Lisa Drew” Ashley Grills was the 18 year old employee who helped Lori’s daughter with the hoax.

I think the Meganhaditcoming is Sarah Drew’s blog. Sure, the very first entry looks like it might’ve been written by an adult, but the ones before it, and those comments? Please – that’s got to be Sarah! There’s nothing mature about any of the writing in that blog, it looks like a mom’s excuses part of the way, and the blatherings of a hate-ridden teenaged girl who, for all anyone knows, might even be sorry she wasn’t actually there to see Megan physically kill herself. Sarah might have even made up all the comments, or at least, got them from the few people who still dare to get close to her.

Also, I have a theory that Sarah was the head of this whole thing, and she got the drew’s employee, Ashley Grills to help play it out – all with Lori Drew’s approval or at the very least, indifference to whatever the consequences might be. Now, Lori, if she did write on that blog is probably still covering for Sarah, and if there’s a Lisa Drew involved, who is she in relation to Sarah and Lori?

  27. Sophie Says:

Capri, who is Lisa Drew and where do you see that name?

  28. Capri Says:

The name appeared in the above article with this quote:

Drew’s family says that Lisa Drew isn’t involved.

Like we’re going to believe them. Right?

  29. admin Says:

Lisa Drew was a typo. Sorry. :)

  30. Rae Says:

Pssst…he’s not really sorry, he just wanted to see how long it would be before anyone noticed. :-)

Tested, we have been, O Yoda.

  31. Melissa Says:

I have just been waiting for someone to call her Nancy.

  32. OutofTX Says:

I have a question on this – which may have been asked earlier and i missed the response.

It’s claimed (at least in that blog) that Megan was somehow cyber bullying the Drew daughter. Has any proof of this been shown anywhere?

It’s no excuse at all for what Lori Drew did no matter how hard she tries to claim that. I’m just curious.

  33. Rae Says:

It’s not just the .50 words, annarocket, it’s the way they are used, the grammar, the sentence structure – it doesn’t sound like a 13 year old still learning how to string sentences together.

JMO, and I could be wrong.

  34. Kimy N Oregon Says:

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,315684,00.html

“Drew’s lawyer said that online harassment laws could be used against those leaving messages for his client.

“I haven’t seen the laws so I don’t know exactly what they cover, but certainly she is being harassed by the Internet,” Briscoe said. “Potentially, laws that are now being created out of this may be ones that people who are harassing her could be prosecuted [under].”

How sad, poor Megan didnt have that kind of protection. This is why people are so angry, doesn’t seem fair.

  35. Melissa Says:

Ok, so obviously she is AWARE of the blog, but yet she has not asked for it to be taken down? Why?

  36. Rae Says:

“Potentially, laws that are now being created out of this may be ones that people who are harassing her could be prosecuted [under].”

Yeah…IF the laws that are passed are made retroactive. And if they are made retroactive, then LD may be prosecuted under them, as well.

She’s not being harassed by the Internet unless she ‘owns’ the blog. If someone else put it up there, well, then, the responses are just opinion.

I’m especially fond of this: “I haven’t seen the laws so I don’t know exactly what they cover, but certainly she is being harassed by the Internet,”. If he hasn’t seen the laws, and doesn’t know what they cover, then how can he say with any certainty whether LD is being harassed or not?

    Pure lawyer double talk.

  37. Melissa Says:

What I want to know is why the blog is still up? Blogger specifically said it would take it down if someone was impersonating another person. If thats the case, then why would she still want it up?

  38. Rae Says:

I’m not sure…unless Blogger has been advised to leave it up for investigative purposes. But, even that doesn’t really add up-they could remove the blog from public view and still retain the information.

  39. Melissa Says:

yep. Methinks they are tracking the IP of who started it at this point. Should be interesting.

May not have been her, but after looking at the other blogs and then seeing the one confessing “now that charges wont be brought”. She may have had someone do it for her and then had access. Lord knows she knows how to do that.

She is a vile, FAT disgusting UGLY woman. And the only reason I bring this up CAPRI, is because these are the things that were said about Megan, who was about 1/4 of her size.

She may very well be THAT stupid.

  40. Compassrose Says:

This morning, I just skimmed the “Megan had it coming” blog, and I read it more carefully tonight. A child did not write this. If Lori Drew did write it, she is even sicker and more evil than I imagined. She couldn’t care less about anyone but her child. Odd, she is so upset that anyone would harass her daughter considering all the lies she told to Megan. I especially despise that she blames this on the behaviors of a thirteen year old. If she did write this, she will never understand or care how depraved and cruel her behaviors are. I wonder where and what her husband was doing while all this was happening?

  41. Deb Says:

Wow – the Megan blog really does read as if she wrote it herself. I find the entire story heartbreaking except for the part about Lori becoming a pariah. Evil begets evil.

  42. Einstein's Mom Says:

There is a name for people like Drew: cripple shooter.

  43. Emerson Says:

I definitely think this disgusting, narcississtic wench wrote that blog. She is a sick and demented woman who is insecure and attempting to live through her child, not protect her. I’m impressed that the foosball table was the extent of the retribution paid to this woman. I can’t say that I would have been as controlled if someone destroyed my child the way this woman did. Here’s another quote from the blog post:

“After the final break-up in their frienship, Megan coordinated a MySpace attack on my daughter. Since she didn’t have access to MySpace herself, she had to work through friends. I wasn’t too surprised because I knew that Megan was grounded from MySpace the previous year after she made a fake profile with a friend to go prank and bully a classmate they didn’t like.

Fortunately, that prank didn’t go far, and neither did her latest attempted prank on my daughter. But the damage was done to my child, and I knew what kind of child Megan was, depression or not.”

The reason I quoted that part was because it is an admission of sorts for her to state that she knew what she was doing was damaging to children. It’s an admission of guilt in that her entire purpose was to harm Megan, not stick-up for her child or teach Megan a little lesson.

FS- I instantly thought of Wanda Holloway as well! She another freak of a parent.

  44. Emerson Says:

This blog, http://www.megansvigilantes.blogspot.com/ linked from the first through the comments on the first blog enty has a tone to it that sounds quite similar to the “Megan had it coming” blog. Could she have been stupid enough to set-up a defense ahead of time? I’m beginning to wonder how mentally disturbed this woman really is.

  45. Capri Says:

There is talk and a few sites stating the blog is a sick hoax

and the pic on it isn’t of Lori but it’s Tina’s pic according to comments at this site:
    http://www.dvorak.org/blog/?p=14913

    - So some sicko stole Tina’s pic and tried passing it off as Lori… – so it’s always really bad making fun of a pic as “fat and ugly” it brings one down on the same level as Sarah Drew in that way and if that is Tina in the pic and not Lori – well…Either way, I’d really like to see the “fat ugly” reference gone.

    http://www.mycrimespace.com/2007/12/05/megan-had-it-coming-is-a-hoax-and-other-news/

And here’s the site with the official report about the ongoing investigation

  46. Fiz Says:

I’m re-reading a book about Wanda Holloway, and it reads like they were twins split at birth!

  47. Fiz Says:

Michelle, knowing what your job is, is there any way you could check the website out and find the source?

  48. Melissa Says:

The picture above is NOT Tina Meier.

  49. Frankly Scarlett Says:

Thanks Liz, and would you believe it… this happens to me all the time to me… I turned on the TV this morning and they had the Wanda story on HBO or one of those channels!!!!

  50. Melissa Says:

It was on LMN last night. You can admit you watch it lol.

  52. Be Sensible Says:

Everyone is just throwing stones at Lori Drew over the internet via blogs and comments aand she is going to end up killing herself and then everyone is going to realize that they did the same damn thing that they were condemning. Our world is so freaking full of hypocrites and double standards.

  53. Sophie Says:

Who cares? I think it is sweet that society is making LD feel the same way MM felt before she hung herself. The only difference is LDs reality isn’t derrived from one ficticious person.

  54. Michelle Gray Says:

While LD may not be the specific writer of that blog (plausible deniability), I do believe that she is involved in it. Just like she did with MM, she’s probably has someone else helping to do her dirty work.

I don’t care if her feelings are hurt because she feels shunned. Society is doing what comes natural to pariahs like her.

If she’s feeling depressed and suicidal perhaps she should seek some mental health counseling. It couldn’t hurt. She’s clearly out of her damn mind anyway.

  55. judy-st louis Says:

Drew’s lawyer trying to get http://www.meganhaditcoming.blogspot.com
    shut down :

    http://www.stltoday.com (sat, 11-08-07)

Kind of old news, but with updates

  56. Liz Says:

The woman posted above IS Lori Drew. Tina Meier is a tiny little person, and her features are very similar to Megan’s.

Y’all – gotta question for you. I began reading about this case when I was home sick with the flu (lots of time was wabndering lots of sites), and found my first pic of Lori Drew (the same one that’s up at this site) on another Web site. However, in this photo, the author of the blog (I’m sure all my terminology is wrong) did not edit it — and it’s complete with a photo of a little boy standing beside Lori Drew. It’s apparent that this little boy just happened to be at the same chamber of commerce party/picnic/event and it looks like Lori got a photo snapped with the child and maybe his dad.

I started thinking about my feelings if one of MY kids’ photos was posted online next to this very reviled woman. I suggested that the author edit the photo to omit the little boy, but no response. I’m guessing the blogger does not have kids, but I just can’t imagine ANY news organization publishing this photo in total without at least blurring the child’s face.

Am I nuts? Or do I have a valid point?

  57. A. Says:

You have a valid point Liz. Some blog owners have more couth than others.

My personal opinion is that I don’t give the peripheral people in a photo much thought. Maybe I’d wonder, for a half second, what their story is, what association did they have, etc, but then my mind would move on.
But with as much bad press as L.D. is getting (and rightfully so), I wouldn’t want my kids face to be next to hers.

  58. Angel TN Says:

I want to add that even though you can’t predict when or if someone is going to commit suicide, this woman not only acted irresponsible & like a high school teenager, she KNEW this girl suffered from depression & THAT to me makes her liable for some kind of charge.
Wouldn’t be any different than someone antagonizing a mentally challenged person & I’m sure we wouldn’t just sit here & let that go on with no sort of repercussions. She made a decision to continue her charade for long enough to wrap this CHILD’S (last time I checked a 13 year old girl is still a CHILD) emotions around her finger & go in for the kill.
I would expect this from another girl of that age but not a grown woman & MOTHER! Even reading what she has posted on her blog, given credit if that is really her, she’s hanging HERSELF! You can read HER words & see the fault, hatred, lies, etc…& she really has nothing solid showing exactly what this girl supposedly did to her daughter.
I struggle with looking at all angles of all issues & give both sides the benefit of the doubt, but all I thought while reading her entry was “blah blah blah…she deserved it…blah blah blah…I’m happy she’s dead…paybacks are hell…blah blah blah…she was a slut…etc…”
That’s not all her exact words but that is what came to my mind while reading her words. These are children we’re talking about here. She had no right to go as far as she did. She needs to focus on her daughter & keep her off of myspace if it’s such an issue! She threw fuel on the fire & is happy she did so.

  59. Melissa Says:

I agree with Michelle. She lied after the fact about the MySpace account. She at first admitted to the police that she DID create it and gave teenagers access to it.

Why should we believe her now that she has NOTHING to do with this other blog? With all the details and whatnot? The obvious cruelty in the first couple of blogs, and then the defensive one?

Whoever it is will be caught, and if whoever started it WILL sing who did it.

I have a hard time believing that this cow has NOTHING to do with it.

  60. Emerson Says:

If she had nothing to do with it than why is it still up? Don’t you think whomever made the blog would have had it taken down by now? In the link below is Lori Drew’s pathetic excuse for an apology letter to Megan’s parents. It was more of a CYA letter than anything else. She basically is attempting to get Megan’s parents to tell her what they know at that point. She wants to know what they’ve been told, and how badly she is busted, so that she can temper her story to provide the most innocent explanation for her actions. When someone is truly hurting because they feel so badly about what they have done they are up front honest with full disclosure. She’s definitely not sorry, just sorry she got caught and cannot get the public to understand why what she did was perfectly normal and OK! POS. If Megan had been my child I am afraid I would be in jail.

  61. Liz Says:

Thanks for the feedback, A. Yeah, for me too it was just the idea of some poor child’s face up there next to this hated person.

I can’t help but feel that there is someone who has some investment in Lori’s life writing the Megan blog, if not in fact Lori herself. It may be that once the criminal charges were dropped, she already KNEW there would be a civil suit. At this point, she really has nothing to lose. Perhaps she — or the person writing it on her behalf — felt that at this point, she really had nothing to lose. In a civil trial, the burden of proof is very different than a criminal trial, and it’s fairly likely that a jury will make an award to the Meiers. While I can’t see a lawyer advocating the blog’s words, I can see a lawyer saying, “I can’t tell you no, but if it were my choice, I wouldn’t do it.”

Which in the end makes me think that it’s probably not Lori herself who started it. Someone got it up and running FOR her, and may have done some of the initial postings. I do think that Lori was involved in the discussion, perhaps even back-seat typing, as it were. The “I’m Lori Drew” manifesto may have come from her from some sick desire to clear the air, clear her name, whatever, after the possibility of jail time went away.

    Crimeranters:

This is the most reasoned discussion of posters on this topic I believe I’ve seen: no foul language, no drive-bys, and a few angles I’ve not heard before.

I didn’t come here to drop a link [Megan Meier Library, although since I’m already here, what the heck?

I think we’re going to start checking the comments out here and a couple of the blogs you commenters hail from…because you’ve come up with a few things details that had escaped us.

We cover particular crime stories (Baby Grace, Riley Sawyers, Megan Meier, Joe Horn) and after someone here noticed in the Baby Grace case that the FBI had offered a reward for info and never announced it publicly, we wrote a couple WTF stories and 24 hours later, the FBI called a news conference to announce the reward.

From reading your comments here, I’m sure someone here maybe already knew about that before we did.

I agree with Michelle Gray’s comment that Lori Drew may not have written the blog, but she knows who did.

I think Google’s response to Drew’s lawyer is interesting. Jim Briscoe, the attorney, says he contacted Google to shut it down and has been all over TV the last 4 days insisting it’s not his client.

Google’s statement (one of several) says that they have no proof of impersonation, one of the sure ways to shut the blog down.

If it’s not Drew, she could have the blog shut down in a heartbeat. Only Google knows who started it.

So Drew could get her lawyer to shut it down, but I think she’s steering clear herself, unless she requested it be done from another IP address by email.

Perhaps if Drew is the author, she got more than she bargained for: the author attempts for awhile to answer the comments, but the avalanche was too much and the author gave up shortly after 3 pm on December 3. The author hasn’t made any further posts or comments since then, although a few of the Anonymous comments bear a striking resemblance to the author’s previous comments.

A lot of speculation is that this is the work of a troll is interesting, but unconvincing at this point, at least to me.

It’s a possibility, but after checking the previous work of some of the names of notorious trolls in these theories: if it is one of those trolls, it’s completely unlike anything else they’ve done before, both in style and grammar.

The authorities opened an investigation of the blog this past week after they said the author “exhibited a knowledge of details that would be unknown to the public”. (might not be word-for-word quote, but the gist remains the same)

Does anyone here have any information or theories that DBKP is unaware of? That’s what I was interested in?

Sorry for the long post, but I’d be interested in feedback from regular “crime” watchers.

    Thanks.

LOL, love your site. And its funny that you call us reasoned. This site, like every and ALL crime sites gets heated at times as well.

Given the subject matter its a given.

The web site sccworlds.com has video and stories related to the Megan Meier case. As a small news website serving the St. Charles County area, we cover Dardenne Prairie. Visit for updates as they become available. Look for a recap of all facts in the case this week.

Thanks for all of your work over there !!

I, too, thought that the anonymous replies on the “I’m Lori Drew” site were too gramatically correct. As you stated, what was on the site had to be written by someone closely associated.
What do you think of all of the time stamps being the same?
What do you think about it coming out at the same time as the press conference?
Bear in mind, the attorney, Jim Briscoe, was on a flight on his way to the Today Show. Could you imagine if it really was Lori Drew, and Jim Briscoe finds out about this after he touches down in NYC? I think that, I would have quit the case, right on the spot! Can any of that be used in a Civil Suit if it was Lori Drew, and it can be proved to be her?
Does anyone out there know the answer?

    Thanks again

  67. mondoreb Says:

    Hey thanks!

    Melissa,
I noticed you and trench had a good back-and-forth …and I thought you had a good point #2…the author DID say that she would cover her tracks too well for anyone to trace her.

    We’ll see, I guess.

    judy-st louis,
What did you mean about “all the time-stamps being the same?”

and melissa, you broke my heart about Edna…although she did look amazingly well-preserved…(snicker) in her different photos

And you’re right about the discussions getting heated, but I didn’t see anyone go ballistic, it was “just the facts, ma’am”…

  68. mondoreb Says:

I do have to agree with Trench on his speculation it’s a troll, if only for one reason: there’s only a 1 out of 300 million chance it’d be Lori Drew.

But then, the blog appearing wasn’t a random event…

Gotta go… we just found some statements we hadn’t previously seen that didn’t make the papers. We’re sifting through those now…

  69. Emerson Says:

The whole blog is quite ironic really, (if it isn’t LD), because it outs her on what a raging, unapologetic, lunatic she really is. Any person with any amount of sorrow, distress, or guilt would be out there in front of cameras, screaming from the tallest mountain, that they DID NOT have anything to do with this website. Yet there is only the smallest comment made via the lawyer.

After everything that has happened and everything that has been said, you’d think she would be very outspoken about being associated with something like this now. So if she is not the author it only goes further in exposing the charater of this POS, as if there were any doubts at this point. And if it is her, well, that’s just plain scarey.

  70. Emerson Says:

Maybe I’m slow, but I did not know that they had denied all together LD making even the MS page. At first I thought that maybe she was covering for her daughter all along and that the daughter was the one who made the MS page, BUT that directly contradicts the girl who reported LD in the first place to the Meier’s. There’s not much of a code of silence for teens when faced with serious consequences, so I highly doubt that the girl lied. Why would she have chosen to rat out an adult and not the teen daughter if not for that being the truth?

“Contrary to statements reported in various news media around the nation in recent weeks, Lori Drew did not create or direct anyone to create the Josh Evans MySpace account.

“Although she was aware of the account, Lori Drew never sent any messages to Megan or to anyone else using this MySpace account.

“The MySpace account was in place for approximately 29 days. It is undisputed that all messages sent were positive until the last 24 hours.

“Lori Drew was not aware of any mean, nasty or negative comments made by anyone against Megan until after Megan took her own life. In fact, the first negative message was sent by a teenager from another residence, and several other negative comments were made by other teenagers at different locations. The negative comments that were sent by the teenage girl at the Drew’s residence occurred when Lori was not home.”

One chapter closes; another one opens in this story.

And I enjoyed our chat on the subject immensely!

    I’ll be back.

    Happy holidays all!

  72. Emerson Says:

I don’t even want to begin to imagine the type of psychological profile that would be made for this guy. Maybe he and LD were seperated at birth. Two very bitter, souless human beings (term used loosely) with absolutely no ability to empathize.

  73. Melissa Says:

Emerson, regarding the MySpace, yes, she is now denying having anything to do with it. But she stated in a police report that she did.

And is it just me? I dont understand how they figured out it was a hoax over there. The YouTube video was that irritating song from the 90’s who everyone thought was black until his video’s came out lol.

  74. mondoreb Says:

    Melissa,

We were there when the posts came down and talked to the author of the blog.

It was a troll looking for his 15 minutes of fame and he got it–although he had to spend that 15 minutes as Lori Drew.

    A fitting punishment, I think.

The poster linked by the the author’s profile and his emails came from a troll…might be a group of trolls…we still don’t know that yet…

Now, none of this changes what has increasingly been the changing of the story into the victimization of Lori Drew.

Latest story on that will be up in a few…

Doesn’t this story get more bizarre by the day?

  75. Melissa Says:

Oh I dont feel like she has been vicitmized, though I am glad the blog went down.

Is this being victimized or is it justice?

  76. judy-st louis Says:

    mondoreb:

Tell me again how you figured out the hoax

    Thanks

  77. mondoreb Says:

    Judy:

Well, it wasn’t hard to figure: we were there when the author was taking the posts down…

Jim Briscoe quoted us in the paper yesterday…

I called his office a couple times, but he “was busy” and didn’t return the call…that was kinda expected…

    oh well…
