OJ Simpson: Arrested in Las Vegas

ojdevil.jpgHere’s some breaking news we don’t mind seeing here at Crime Rant. America’s favorite ex-football player/murderer was arrested today in connection with an alleged armed robbery of sports memorbilia, according to NBC News.

This time what happens in Las Vegas might not just stay secret. This might make it to court.

We like that.

Here’s a snip:

The arrest of the former football star followed questioning Sunday morning. Simpson has said the items, reportedly stolen from a hotel room earlier in the week, belonged to him, and police questioned him earlier in their investigation.

Another suspect was also arrested before Simpson. The man, detained Saturday night, was arrested on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary with a deadly weapon, police Lt. Clint Nichols said. Two firearms were seized.

He was not identified. Nichols said police were seeking other suspects.

“There may be as many as five outstanding (suspects),” he said, confirming that Simpson was among those five.

Police executed two search warrants early Sunday morning on private residences, Nichols said. The weapons and other evidence were seized at the first location.

“It was evidence of a crime that was committed,” Nichols said. “And I believe we recovered some clothing that the individual was wearing in the commission of the robbery.”

The man is accused of being among a group of people that went to the room of memorabilia dealers at the Palace Station casino-hotel on Thursday and seized items. Simpson has said the items belonged to him, and police have questioned him once in their investigation.

Simpson told The Associated Press on Saturday that he did he did not even consider calling the police to help reclaim personal items he believed were stolen from him, because he has found the police unresponsive when he needed help ever since his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, were killed in 1994.

“The police, since my trouble, have not worked out for me,” he said, noting that whenever he has called the police “It just becomes a story about O.J.”

“I’m at the point where I don’t rely on the police and this is not a police issue anyway,” he said, expressing hope that it will soon be resolved.

Simpson, 60, said he was just trying to retrieve memorabilia, particularly photos of his wife and children. There were no guns and no break-in, he said.

Wonder if he was in the hotel room looking for Ron and Nicole’s real killer. Yeah, that must be it.

I had to laugh at this:

“The police, since my trouble, have not worked out for me,” he said, noting that whenever he has called the police “It just becomes a story about O.J.”

Well…yeah. It’s not going to become a story about Joe Schlmoe from Detroit, you doofus.

  2. Compassrose Says:

LOL — so true, Rae. It makes me wonder why he thought he could pull off an armed robbery. I guess when you get away with murder, armed robbery doesn’t seem all that bad.

I feel very sorry for his children.

  3. Nik Says:

Ya know what’s even worse? This POS might just be off the hook. One of the people he stole from doesn’t want to press charges against him. Hmmmm… wonder why? Is it because he was the one with stolen property in the first place? Or is he just trying to kiss some OJ ars?

  4. Einstein's Mom Says:

Maybe the guy who won’t press charges is afraid the POS might decide to wait for him some night wearing a pair of black leather gloves.

  5. Rae Says:

Doesn’t matter if the person doesn’t want to press charges, Nik…it is out of their hands now. The police are moving forward with felony charges.

  6. Crime, Interrupted Says:

It’s always about OJ– OJ’s “trouble”; OJ this, OJ that. He always just feels soooo “wronged”. What a POS……

  7. admin Says:

Rae,thanks for the OJ graphic! Love it.
    Gregg

  8. Tina Says:

O.J. will hire another Dream Team that will get him off. That POS is untouchable because he’s an effing celebrity who basks in his fame.

O.J. got away with two really horrific murders and was also acquitted at his road rage trial. Robbery/burglary ~ a piece of cake.

    O.J. is a career criminal!

  9. Kristina Says:

I wonder what his kids think about him??

I really feel sorry for the kids, they’ll never escape from there dad’s shadow.

  10. Kate Says:

Today was a VERY good day….been waiting a long-long time for this!

    Buh bye murderer….

  11. Nona Says:

That scamp O.J. is at it again.

I think you’re right. He was just looking for the REAL killers in that hotel room.

  12. Rae Says:

You’re welcome, Gregg-it was a kick to put Simpson behind bars!

(Would that I could in reality.)

  13. Frankly Scarlett Says:

Let’s hope that Orenthal ends up this time where he belongs…. where he has belonged since the murders.

Bye bye golf carts, bye bye books, bye bye media, bye bye autographs. Hello prison, hello jumpsuits, hello iron bars….hello dog food…..watch your backside Juice……. and the best thing of all would be to get him away from his children.

Hopefully someday, they will come to the sad and horrifying conclusion that he really IS a monster. They live the horror that their father killed their mother (or maybe they don’t, yet); and now this. I doubt he had ONE whit of a thought of his kids when he pulled this latest scam.

Positively a sickening, media seeking, MURDERER.

How super funny! I saw this when I clicked on CNN this morning, and first thing I said was, “Oh, gotta go to Crimerant, bet the guys are having fun over this one!” And of course, first thing I see is Rae’s pic of doofus.

I tell ya, really don’t think he’ll get any jail time in this one. And if he does, he’ll probably be idolized in prison. I’m thinkin he won’t see judgement til judgement day, but wishing that wasn’t the case. Why can’t somebody off this guy? Seriously, he’s a disgrace to humanity.

  15. Nona Says:

O.J. just wants to join the ranks of True Crime authors.

“If I Did It – Murder”
“If I Did It – Armed Robbery”

Oooh. What will be next in the series?

  16. Fiz Says:

I love your comment, Scarlett! And Rae’s picture – look at the tiger’s eyes!. Personally I have been waiting for something to finally get this POS since the original verdict – I really did not think he would get off and was gutted when he did.

  17. OutofTX Says:

What can I say but echo everyone else here that this is probably one of the best pieces of news anyone could hear :) When I first heard the news earlier this weekend and heard that OJ was calling what he did a “sting operation” I thought “what the hell, he’s some kind of cop now?”.

I guess having been found not guilty of murder he figures he can get away with anything he wants to do. And I love his outrage about personal items having been stolen. Yea, like he’s not going to turn around and sell them himself to bring in some money? What a loser.

Here’s hoping that Vegas juries aren’t as tainted as California ones and this time he doesn’t get away.

This is fantastic and high time. And the best part, I *think* if he tries to post bail the Goldman’s can seize the money as part of the judgment they won. Here is the analysis of *why* OJ did this (well, besides being stupid): http://confessionsofakiller.wordpress.com/2007/09/15/the-las-vegas-incident-analyzed/

Here is how to launch an alcohol fueled liftoff for a crime.
Stage one: At a wedding reception have a few cocktails and mix with devilsh idle chatter about
how you got ripped off of memorabilia. Stir in aqaintances while buying the drinks.
Stage two: Provide liftoff velocity by kinda promising the cohorts in a proposed crime a signed
football. Top off feul tank with generous applications of more liquid courage.
Stage three: Use your charisma as a fuse to mobilize the alcohol influenced posse to enter the
hotel room door and let the criminal actions achieve their orbit.

    Too funny Sabra

  21. Angel TN Says:

He’s smiling ’cause at least one way or another he’s in the spotlight. He’s so obsessed with being in the media that he has wrote a book & now robbed a place. He’ll do whatever as long as he’s KNOWN. That’s just my opinion.

  22. O.J. Simpson Faces Trial for Armed Robbery of Las Vegas Hotel Room « PR in Entertainment Says:

[...] Well, most bloggers were happy about Simpson’s arrest. They used short but strong headline, “Simpson Gets Arrested” and “O.J. Simpson arrested in Vegas.” They mocked at Simpson with disdain. They described the case briefly, without many interests in details. However, they still wanted to see what will happen next and wait for the final result. There is a blogger who pohotshoped Simpson’s photo to make him look like a devil and another one made a side by side comparison of OJ Simpson’s mug shot from 1994 after being booked on double homicide charges and his mug shot from 2007 after being booked on multiple felony robbery charges.
