Since four Crime Rant readers have sent us notes about this, that must mean you want to talk about Lori Drew.

LOS ANGELES – A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted a Missouri woman for her alleged role in perpetrating a hoax on the online social network MySpace against a 13-year-old neighbor who committed suicide.

Lori Drew of suburban St. Louis allegedly helped create a false-identity MySpace account to contact Megan Meier, who thought she was chatting with a 16-year-old boy named Josh Evans. Josh didn’t exist.

Megan hanged herself at home in October 2006 after receiving cruel messages, including one stating the world would be better off without her.

We’ve all been talking about the sickening story out of Austria. You know the one. The story of Josef Fritzl who held his daughter captive and raped her repeatedly for 24 years?

The 73-year-old man allegedly held his daughter Elisabeth, now 42, and three of their children in a soundproof chamber below an apartment block in Amstetten, a town near the Austrian Alps.

Police say he raised three of the children with his wife, who knew nothing of the secret cellar chamber.

The man told police he burned the body of the seventh child, who allegedly died of neglect shortly after birth, in an incinerator.

Elisabeth was originally reported missing in 1984 when she was 18 years old. She was located by Amstetten police on Saturday evening after they received a tip. She is now in psychiatric care with her children, two of whom are said to be in poor health.

“They are in a life-threatening condition,” the head of the clinic where they are being treated told reporters. “All of them are being given intensive medical treatment. I can give no prognosis. Only God knows that.”

Seriously? Josef’s wife didn’t have a clue. Hard to believe. In fact, impossible.

Amid a juicy sex scandal, New York Governor Elliot Spitzer stepped down today… and we finally got a look at Kristen — the prostitute from the Emperors Club who was marketed as “an American, petite, very pretty brunette, 5 feet 5 inches, and 105 pounds.” The New York Times reported that her “real” name is Ashley Alexandra Dupre. And yes, we’ll be hearing more about her soon. She’s got a lawyer and the book and film deals are already being chatted about.

BTW, she’s giving the the international hooker’s gesture for “that’ll cost you twice as much if you ask me to do that.”
